It seems that wine tourism is having a tremendous growth in our country. Tourists coming to Argentina to visit the so-called “Wine Roads” this year totaled 1,100,000, a 118% more than in 2006, the Second National Wine Tourism report presented Tuesday by Bodegas de Argentina.
The paper notes that 84% of tourists who visit the wineries are less than 55 years and 54% are women, while the visit of foreigners increased by 11%. To Bodegas de Argentina, these numbers reflect the position in the world that has this activity, a figure considerably higher than the growth of total visitors to the country in 2007, which was 21%.
Over the past year, tourists who visited the wineries in Mendoza represented 74% of all visits to wineries in the country. The announcement was made at the winery Navarro Correas, Department of Godoy Cruz Mendoza, where the responsibility of the National Wine Tourism, Maria Belen Gaua announced that Mendoza “was repositioned in the wine tourism last year.” “While the province has always been a leader in terms of wine tourism is highlighting the considerable growth of visits to wineries in one year to another,” said Gaua.
