We continue touring the best Spain’s natural parks . Here we touch one of the jewels of Andalucia , the Natural Park Cabo de Gata – Nijar , located in the southeastern province ofAlmería. There the nature welcomes us with a majestic range of landscapes :the sea, cliffs, salt flats and hills. And a precious heritage housed in its flora and fauna, which have earned the designation as a Biosphere Reserve .
The Natural Park Cabo de Gata-Nijar is one of the most arid ecosystems of Europe and also has a distinctive climate with no winter climate. This allows us to find this unique habitats and high biodiversity. In fact, it has more than 1,000 plant species found only here. Here are some of the most emblematic in the different environments that make up the park:
- in the marine ecosystem: forest posidonea submerged ocean, crabs, octopus, pen shells, fake coral and several fish.
- in the salt mines of Cabo de Gata is much of the avifauna of the park: avocets, stilts, ducks and flamingos
- in the mountains, raptors, small mammals
Simple as it seems the category of ” longest rivers in the world “turns out to be not so easy to determine an accurate ranking. This is because there may be geographically different criteria with which to “measure” the length of a river , there is disagreement about that much data, including the fact define whether the Nile or the Amazon the longest river in the world.
How is a river ? A river is measured from its source to its mouth, in that there is widespread agreement. However, it can present some difficulties in some cases such as:
- correctly set where the birth
- establish where the mouth properly, especially those ending with a big mouth widening, such as the Rio de la Plata
- adequately measure travel something that is in terms of maps that are sometimes not accurate
